The second day of your journey will introduce you to two captivating imperial cities: Meknes and Fes. Start your day early, taking advantage of the morning's peaceful streets for some delightful photos. Depart for Fes, but first, you'll make an intriguing stop at the UNESCO-protected Roman Volubilis ruins. Established in the third century BC by the Roman Empire, this ancient capital of the Kingdom of Mauritania is a historical treasure with well-preserved buildings and intricate mosaics, despite its incomplete state.

Your next destination is Meknes, the second imperial city on your itinerary. Make sure to explore the grandeur of the Bab El-Mansour gate. As the day unfolds, continue your journey towards Fes, a city teeming with history and culture. You'll spend a tranquil night at a local Riad, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the charms of Fes.

Today you will spend the day exploring the imperial city of Fes. Fes is made up of two parts, Fes el Bali and Fes el Jdid. Start your journey in Fes el Bali, where you’ll discover the medieval medina. Walk through the streets of the old city and continue to Bab Boujeloud gate, entering the main thoroughfare of Talâa Kebira.

Next, visit Al Attarine Madrasa, which is considered one of the highest achievements of Marinid architecture, due to its rich and harmonious decoration and its efficient use of limited space. Continue on to Al-Qarawiyyin University, a university located in Fez that was founded as a mosque by Fatima al-Fihri in 859 and subsequently became one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the historic Muslim world.

Later in the day, shift to Fes el Jadid to visit the modern city. Climb over the rooftop of the city to enjoy the moment. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your Riad.

After a hearty breakfast, your journey continues, this time to the enchanting southern destination of Merzouga. Depart from Fes and make your way to Ifrane, often referred to as the "Little Switzerland of Morocco," for a brief visit to this charming town. From there, your route leads you to the remarkable cedar forests in Azrou, where you'll have the chance to observe Barbary apes and capture beautiful moments on camera. Following this, you'll proceed to Midelt for a well-deserved lunch.

The path then leads you through the Middle Atlas mountains, bringing you to the picturesque Ziz Valley, home to the second-largest palm groves in Morocco. The journey carries on to Erfoud, known as the gateway to the Sahara Desert and renowned for its rich fossil resources. Here, you'll have the opportunity to witness the intricate process of transforming simple fossil rocks into exquisite decorations. As you venture further, you'll reach the awe-inspiring Erg Chebbi, a vast sea of sand dunes covering 13.5 square miles (35 square km).
