The 9-day Morocco tour begins with a pickup from the airport or your hotel in Fes. The next day, we devote the day to seeing the highlights of Fes with a local guide. In addition to being the cultural and religious heart of Morocco, the city is considered one of the imperial cities.
To begin the day, we go to the Royal Palace gate. Then there's the well-preserved medieval Medina, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will go to the Blue Gate, also known as Bab Boujloud, which is the gateway of the ancient Medina. You'll enter the Medina to see the Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine Fountain, and the Tanneries. Finally, the Quaraouin mosque and university, the world's oldest institution. Following that, we depart from the Medina to explore the Jewish district, commonly known as "the Mellah." We travel to a historic citadel in the afternoon for a panoramic view over the Medina and the city of Fes. Finally, make your way back to your Riad.
As the sun rises and bathes the desert in a warm morning glow, savor a hearty breakfast that energizes you for the day's adventures. Our journey unfolds as we head southwards, first visiting Ifrane, a city renowned for its alpine-style architecture, cool temperatures, and snowy landscapes, often earning it the moniker "the Switzerland of Morocco." Its charming houses and picturesque surroundings make for a delightful stop on our route.
Continuing our exploration, we venture into the cedar forest, a haven for Barbary macaques. Here, you'll have the chance to interact with these fascinating creatures, perhaps even offering them a treat while meandering through the forest. After an eventful morning, we'll make our way to Midelt, where you can indulge in a leisurely lunch at your own pace.
Our journey then leads us to Merzouga, nestled within the Saharan desert, and we take in the scenic beauty along the way. As we navigate the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and trace the contours of the Ziz valley, we'll pause at strategic points to relish panoramic views that stretch as far as the eye can see.
In the afternoon, we arrive at the stunning Sahara desert of Merzouga. Here, the landscape transforms into a sea of sandy dunes, and it's time to embrace the desert experience. You'll transition to camelback, and with the gentle sway of your trusty companions, you'll traverse the golden sands. The highlight of this desert adventure unfolds as you reach the summit of a towering dune to witness the breathtaking sunset over the Saharan horizon.
Our journey leads to a unique desert camp, where you'll enjoy a blend of traditional nomadic tents and the comforts of a hotel. As the night descends and the sky comes alive with a multitude of stars, you'll be serenaded by the enchanting rhythms of Berber drums. Around the campfire, under the vast expanse of the open sky, you'll relish a sumptuous dinner. This is a truly magical desert experience that will leave you with lasting memories of the Sahara. It's here that you'll retire for the night, immersed in the tranquility of the desert.
Getting up early in the morning is essential if you want to see the lovely sunrise in the midst of the desert. Breakfast is optional. Then you return to Merzouga on camels, where the driver awaits. We plan to spend the day exploring the Merzouga area. There are other wonderful features in the region, including sand dunes, natural lakes, mines, fossil places, and spectacular oasis. Which are perfect locations for a variety of outdoor sports.
To begin our tour in Merzouga, we drive off-road to an old eyeliner mine. Then we pay a visit to the nomads in their handwoven tent. Learn about their way of life while sipping a cup of Berber tea. The Khamlia village is our next stop, where you will experience Gnaoua music and dance performances. Its residents come from Sub-Saharan African nations such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Lunch at a restaurant is optional. After that, we go for a walk in a palm tree forest. Then travel a few kilometers to witness Merzouga's wild lake, commonly known as Flamingo Lake. Following a delicious breakfast, our journey continues as we bid farewell to the desert. Our next destination is Rissani, an ancient city that once served as the capital of Tafilalet. This vibrant town still plays a significant role as a major trading center in the region, particularly during its bustling souk days on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. As we explore the colorful Rissani Souk, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere and perhaps pick up some unique local treasures.
Our adventure then takes us to Erfoud, where we delve into the fascinating world of fossilized marble. You'll have the chance to visit one of the local workshops, where you can gain insights into how these remarkable geological treasures are transformed into beautiful decorative items.
The journey continues as we travel through the lush palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, following the course of the Todra River. This river has meticulously carved a breathtaking canyon through the mountains, creating a high, red-cliff-sided marvel known as the Todra Gorges. Not only is this location a natural wonder, but it's also an ideal destination for rock climbers seeking adventure. As we wander through the gorges, you'll have ample time to admire the striking beauty of the landscape.
In a delightful local restaurant, we pause for a leisurely lunch, ensuring you're well-refreshed and ready for the next leg of our journey. Our route then guides us through the scenic Dades Valley, with a stop in the charming town of Boumalne Dades. Along the way, you'll discover the captivating "monkey fingers" rock formation, a remarkable sight, as well as enjoy breathtaking vistas from a mountaintop, offering panoramic views of the Dades Valley.
Finally, we conclude our day's adventures with a comforting dinner and a restful night's stay in a well-appointed hotel.
We continue our journey to Kalaa Magouna after breakfast to view the Rose Valley. In May, there is a Rose Festival. Where locals sell rose items such as fragrances, rose water, oil, and cosmetics. We then travel through Skoura's palm groves. Later, we arrive at Ouarzazate, commonly known as the Desert Gate. We'll go to the studios where renowned movies were made.
We leave for Ait Ben Haddou's famed Kasbah. A fortified settlement designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Furthermore, the Kasbah has featured in several films, including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and others. And TV shows like Game of Thrones. Then we go to Marrakesh. Driving across the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-N-Tichka pass. Stops will be made for lunch and photographing fascinating locations. Stay in a Riad in Marrakech for the night.

In the afternoon, the adventure continues with a visit to the Majorelle Garden and the grand Koutoubia mosque, the largest mosque in Marrakech. After breakfast, we head west to Essaouira, once known as Mogador, a significant coastal city in Morocco. Along the way, we'll stop to see the famous Argan tree goats and enjoy some panoramic views.
In Essaouira, renowned for its seafood, beautiful beaches, and surfing, we'll visit the fishing port, explore the ancient ramparts with their cannons, and wander through the historic Medina. Finally, we'll transfer you to your hotel for an overnight stay in Essaouira.
